PHOENIX, AZ –-(Ammoland.com)- Find me at the largest firearms trade gathering on the planet, in Las Vegas, Jan. 19 – 22, 2015.

To meet, leave word at The Riviera Hotel or at the SHOT Show Media Office.

AND —

While we await ‘the second coming‘ of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, under the new leadership of the Second Amendment Foundation, curious minds are wondering what the group’s late founder and firebrand Aaron Zelman would say about SHOT Show firearm policy:

“Personal Firearms Prohibited.”
“Please remember that Industry Day at the Range policy
and Sands Expo Center policy prohibits the carrying
of personal firearms and ammunition.”

Bottom line — The SHOT Show is a make-believe gun-free zone. No controlled access or egress, no property detection, anyone can enter with anything, but:

“In this building you are protected by this policy, and signs.” (Note: the thousands of guns ON DISPLAY have been certified firing-pin free for safety before they can be displayed.)

Namaste.

What gets me is the strange balance between:

a) the safety of the large NSSF (or any) crowd, with so many guns around, plus the competence this crowd represents — being the most elite in the gun community, give or take, and

b) that pernicious pervasive paranoia propagated poisonously by the popular media culture to fear guns instead of embrace them: “OMG, something might happen if so many people have guns!”

It’s the same fear boiling out of the fear-filled left. And all that is pitted inversely against the increased desirability of sizable crowd / targets, to anyone with ill intent. Protection against and deterrence of which is the whole purpose for being armed in the first place.

These policies seem bad from every angle.
