Mozambique only recently became a republic in 1990, which means the area has been under much unrest for a number of years – and that not only affected the people, but the wildlife as well.

“Mozambique is one of the top hunts you can do in the world, but this is real African hunting – you are in a third world area with dirt road and poverty as the norm,” said Miranda.

Miranda heads to an area just outside of the Niassa Reserve where the wildlife is more abundant – and causing problems for local villagers. The animal he seeks only comes out around dusk, so he sets up camp in a blind to wait out this dangerous, nocturnal creature for a very small window of opportunity.
