A Virginia man who was shot in the face and neck by his brother coughed up one of the bullets while talking to police officers Sunday afternoon.
The 23-year-old Chesterfield County man was in his mobile home when his older brother, 26, came to check on him, CBS affiliate reports. An argument broke out and when the younger brother flashed a gun, the older brother pulled out his own and fired, striking the victim once in the nose and once in the neck. But despite the victim’s injuries, he remained conscious and was even able to talk with investigators, at which point he spit up one of the bullets that was lodged in his face.
The older brother called 911 and the victim was transported to VCU Medical Center where he was treated for his non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The older brother was arrested and questioned, but later released.
Police are still investigating to determine if the shooting was in self-defense or unprovoked. And while it’s still unclear what sparked the confrontation, the shooter said he brought his gun because he was expecting a fight.
