An Idaho man is facing third degree arson charges after he threw Molotov cocktails at the Bannock County Courthouse early Wednesday morning.
Around 8:30 a.m., police received a call from someone at the courthouse who said there were suspicious markings on the building that resembled an explosion. Authorities then reviewed surveillance video, which showed a man lighting then throwing what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail at the courthouse.
Further investigation determined a suspect, later identified as Christopher Griffin, was seen at a nearby Chevron station filling up a glass bottle with gasoline. Some time later, Griffin returned to fill another bottle.
Griffin was initially detained for questioning, but during the interview he admitted to the crime. Griffin also told authorities that he would continue to toss Molotov cocktails at the courthouse because he was frustrated over something that occurred there. Authorities did not elaborate on what Griffin may have been referring to.
