USA –  -(Ammoland.com)- After the Orlando night club shooting it seems many in the LGBT community are now split on what to do about guns in American?

Work to ban them or embrace them as the lifesaving self defense tools that are firearms.

Two recent events highlighted the split:

LGBT Community Floods Free Firearms Training Classes in Texas :

In Texas where many LGBT persons are probably more familiar and comfortable around firearms, there was a flood of new students to take FREE firearms training classes at the Shiloh Shooting Range in northwest Houston. 1000’s have now taken the courses, many of those students have now bought new guns and gun gear after the great first shots experience and safety training.

Jeff Sanford, General Manager of the Shiloh Shooting Range, said it best when he said, “As gun owners and gun advocates, this is truly a golden opportunity to gain a very passionate group of 2nd Amendment advocates with open arms.”

The Shiloh Shooting Range has committed to continue to offer the free firearms classes as long as the demand exist.

Contrast much more gun unfriendly, New York City, where most residents have never seen a gun accept on TV or on the belt of a police officer. On Monday a dozen gay activists have begun a campaign of civil disobedience against gun companies and their investors by holding a “die-in” at the headquarters of BlackRock, one of the largest corporate shareholders of gun companies’ stock.

Holding placards bearing photos of some of the victims of mass murders and gang violence, protesters occupied the lobby of BlackRock’s headquarters in midtown Manhattan for almost an hour on Monday afternoon demanding that the investment firm divest from gun stocks.

The group protesting is called GAG or Gays Against Guns. Organizers of the GAG collective, which claims more than 300 members in New York and chapters in nine other cities across the country, said their next targets would be companies that partner with the National Rifle Association (NRA).

The irony is that the NRA stands and fights for all civil rights for all Americans including those in the LGBT community.  American gun owners, many former and current military, have risked their lives and died defending the rights of all patriotic LGBT Americans.

Lets hope our LGBT friends reach across the divide and embrace the pro gun community, many already have and we welcome many more.
