BEAVERTON, Ore. –-(Ammoland.com)- Team Leupold pro Doug Keonig continued his summer-long winning streak by claiming his fifth European Bianchi Cup in Philippsburg, Germany.
The courses of fire weren’t the only challenge Keonig had to overcome at the match. Travel issues caused the champion to arrive late, forcing him to shoot each event solo.
Without the usual preparation time before each stage, Koenig demonstrated his mental toughness en route to a perfect score of 1920 and 182 center “X” hits. Once again, the Leupold pro lived up to the German translation of Koenig as “King.”
“Doug continues to amaze and astound us with his unflappable demeanor and accuracy,” said Mike Slack, Leupold & Stevens senior manager of advertising and communications. “Many competitors cannot handle a change in their routines, but Doug was unfazed, as usual.”
The European Bianchi Cup is modeled after the legendary match held annually in the United States, which Koenig has won 15 times in his career. Four stages test a different skill set, from the falling plates to the barricades to the practical and the moving target event.
