Salem, OR -(AmmoLand.com)- Summer is the time to get ready to go big game hunting this fall. Join ODFW at two upcoming classes and be ready!
Learn to big game hunt, June 12, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Albany Rifle and Pistol Club:
This class is geared towards people who have never hunted before and open to all age 9 and older. We’ll talk about what you need to know to go big game hunting: licensing, equipment, locations, how and where to hunt and what gear you need. The cost of the class is $12 and includes lunch. Register online at ODFW license sales page.
Archery instruction with Oregon Bow Hunters, June 18, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., EE Wilson Wildlife Area, Monmouth:
Volunteers from Oregon Bow Hunters will be at the archery range to provide free instruction to anyone who drops by. No pre-registration or RSVP is required. Bring your own bow and arrow if you have it, but loaner archery equipment is also available. (ODFW is providing the loaner archery equipment, thanks in part to support from Eugene’s BowTech Archery.)
Instruction and use of loaner equipment is free, but an ODFW parking permit is required to use the wildlife area. The permit costs $7 daily or $22 annually (calendar year), or comes free with the purchase of a hunting license.
Permits are not available at the wildlife area and should be purchased beforehand online or at an ODFW license sales agent. (Daily parking permits can be purchased online, printed and used immediately; annual permits are mailed.)
ODFW hosts a variety of events around the state each year. Find more at www.odfwcalendar.com or see our Learn to Fish, Learn to Hunt and our Crabbing and Clamming pages for tips on getting started.
About the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW):
Our mission is to protect and enhance Oregon’s fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
