The Idris Elba/Stephen King vehicle set for theaters may boost sales of Remington New Army revolvers and moon clips, just not together.
The upcoming Dark Tower film, set for release later this year, tells the story of Roland Deschain of Gilead, the last of a long line of mythical “Gunslingers” in the universe imagined by Stephen King, creator of the book series the film is drawn from.
While interesting and of course not of this world, the custom Remington 1858 New Army wheel guns used in the movie are black powder cap and ball revolvers and, while cylinder conversions did exist, they didn’t kick out like modern DA/SA six-shooters and accept full moon clips. Still, you have to admit the trailer is at least a bit interesting if you can get over that, and undoubtedly will lead to a bump in sales for Ruger Old Army/Remington New Army .44s and maybe of revolvers that accept full- and half-moon clips as well, which is always good for the industry.
Of course, both King and Elba himself have come out with somewhat hypocritical views on guns, but the movie does look entertaining if you grew up as a fan of the Gunslinger saga back in the 80s and 90s.
At least the Cody Firearms Museum poked fun at the last trailer’s magical Hollywood reloading, so we don’t have to.
