Lancer Systems issued a statement concerning its L5AWM magazines manufactured in March of this year. If you have a magazine with a March 2015 date code — stamped 3/15 — then Lancer said it will send out a replacement follower to you.

“If you recently purchased an L5AWM magazine, it may contain a non-conforming follower,” Lancer president Bill Meiklejohn said in the announcement. “The non-conforming followers, which were manufactured below the allowable limit of tolerance, could fail to lock the bolt back after the last round has been fired in a small percentage of rifle platforms.”

“We’ve corrected this manufacturing issue and have taken specific steps to ensure our followers always meet the highest standards so our customers can continue to fully trust their Lancer magazines,” he added.

L5AWM magazines with the March 2015 date code may be out of spec and not 100 percent reliable. No manufacturer is immune to this and even magazine giant Magpul recalled a small run of Glock magazines earlier this year.

Even if the problem is limited, anyone with these followers is encouraged to contact Lancer for a replacement just to be on the safe side.

Customers can contact Lancer directly by email or by phone.

Email Lancer directly for a replacement at LSWarranty@Lancer-Systems.com and include the following information: Retailer, Date of purchase, Quantity of followers that need replaced, and your shipping address.

For additional questions, please call (610) 973-2644.

Only the followers are out of spec. All the other components are within the norms. If you have any questions or concerns visit the Lancer Systems L5AWM recall page for more information.
