AmmoLand’s resident knife addict, Tom Claycomb says “the one thing that surprised me was the numerous knives each knife brand offered, unlike the knife stores near me .”
USA -(Ammoland.com)- I’ve worked with numerous knife companies over the past few decades and one thing that surprised me at first was the numerous knife models that each brand offered. You would never know that If you looked in the typical knife store near you. You’d think that each manufacturer only manufactured 5-15 models.
But after having actually met and worked with people at the companies I was surprised to learn that many of them offered numerous if not hundreds of knife options.
So in a nutshell what I’m saying is, after being in the stores and seeing the limited knife choices and then actually meeting with the knife companies I was surprised by how limited a selection that local knife shops offered to the public.
After thinking about it though, I understood their dilemma though. Case Knives alone offers, I don’t even know how many thousands of knives.
I’ve done a lot with CASE XX Knives over the years and knew they carried a lot, but on the way to a Professional Outdoor Media conference in Springfield, Missouri a few years ago I stopped at a CASE brand outlet store that carried their knives.
Wow, they had cases upon display cases of Case Knives. It took up an area 20 times larger than even the larger stores that I had ever been in offered.
Knife Stores Near Me
So what are the knife stores near me supposed to do? They pick out a few models from each popular manufacturer that they think will be fast sellers and offer that small selection. But what if you have a specific knife model that you want to buy that is not offered? Us knife owners / collectors are a unique breed. We look for a knife with specific attributes. It’s not just a tool to us. It also has to fit our personality and individual taste.
Which knife shop can you go to and find the exact knife that fits your taste? What if it is a unique caping knife, skinning knife, boning knife, survival knife, tactical knife, survival knife or bayonet that you read about and are convinced you can no longer live without?
Or what if you just can’t quite find what you’re looking for in your local store? In the past, the only option was if by chance your local store could special order it but even then, you’d have a few weeks delay in receiving it.
Well, have no fear. Because of the internet we have unlimited options with online knife stores right at our fingertips in the from of online shops that specialize in just knives.
There are a lot of benefits in going this route:
- On some websites you can see the whole selection that a knife manufacturer has to offer instead of a select few blades at the knife stores near you.
- You have access to buy a knife from a new company. Here’s why I say this. To get into a store is tough. They only have room for so many knives so they just offer the ones that they think will be fast sellers. The new or little guys virtually can’t get in for years. So, we may never even have a chance to ever see them.
- You don’t have to drive to a store or search knife stores near me
- Or, I’m visiting my daughter right now in a small town in Oregon and she has super limited options here. Now, no biggee. Open your computer and you have the world at your fingertips.
So, with the peck of a finger you can have whole blade selections laid right out in front of you. It’s hard (impossible) to lay out 10-20 knives on a counter in a store and compare. Plus, they won’t have all the selections that you might be wanting to look at. And more than likely, they can’t even obtain them for you. This problem is now solved.
Another thing that I like is that with the flip of a finger I can have all of the knife specs right at my fingertips. That’s handy if I’m wanting to compare knives. I may like the look of a knife but if the blade is too short, it’s out of the picture for me.
So how do you find places that sell knives on-line, or rather how do you find some knife dealers?
Well, here’s a list of a few online knife stores near me that are open 24/7/365 days online:
I believe at least one of the above online knife outlets should be able to handle the majority of your knife needs and, you can shop, browse and buy from the luxury of your own home rather than searching for a ” knife stores near me “.
