Albuquerque, NM –-(Ammoland.com)- Check out Sootch00’s new video of the Kel Tec PF9, chambered in 9mm, a YouTube video unlike any other Kel-Tec PF9 review.
Sootch00 gives a great review of this small 9mm handgun. If you’re consider purchasing one I recommend also looking at some of the other reviews on YouTube before purchasing it.
According to Kel-Tec’s website, the PF9 is 12.7 oz. unloaded and a loaded magazine will add about 5.5 oz. to its weight. It’s 5.85 inches in length; 4.3 inches in height and 0.88 inches in width, with a barrel length of 3.1 inches. Plus it comes with a seven round factory magazine giving it a 7+1 capacity. Kel-Tec also notes that the trigger has a five pound trigger pull that is double action only.
It’s also rated for for the occasional use of +P ammunition.
The Kel-Tec PF9 appears to be one of the more reviewed conceal carry guns on YouTube. My guess as to why that may be is because this firearm has been around for almost six years. During that time period competitors have released firearms that go head-to-head with the Kel-Tec PF9 in the conceal carry market.
I’ve been in the market for a concealable 9mm handgun for self-defense and the Kel-Tec PF9 is at the top of my list for a number of reasons. The first being that it’s a very affordable weapon to purchase. You may be able to walk out of your favorite gun shop with a new 9mm semi-automatic handgun for right around $300 (or less) if your purchase the PF9. The second being that it does have many favorable reviews on YouTube.
What really draws me to purchasing this weapon is the simplicity in it’s operation and construction. In my opinion, a carry gun should be very uncomplicated if a person wants to trust their life with it. What I am referring to specifically in the PF9 is the fact that it does not have an external safety. The Kel-Tec PF9 also does not have a magazine disconnect feature which would disable the firearm if the magazine was not loaded. Also, it was not manufactured with an internal lock that could be enabled which would then completely disable the weapon if you did not have the key handy to unlock it.
Basically, the thought that I can get the simplicity of a .38 snub-nose revolver in a thinner framed semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm is very appealing.
However, I am absolutely not trying to say that this is the perfect conceal carry gun. But, the fact that it has a concealable profile and hovers around the $300 price point, it’s a hard option to not consider.
I would really like to hear what you all consider to be an affordable 9mm carry gun? Or, if you think I should just save up a bit more and get something different?
