A police officer from Topeka, Kansas, saved a 4-year-old boy who fell into a pond at a local park and the dramatic move was captured on the officer’s body cam.
Officer Aaron Bulmer said he was on patrol in the area and saw the toddler slip into the pond. Bulmer ran to the body of water, jumped in, and pulled the toddler up out of the water while yelling at a nearby witness to call 911.
The parents of the boy, who is autistic, said he slipped out of their home and they were looking for him at the time the incident occurred. He was transported to the hospital for an evaluation, but his condition was not immediately disclosed.
“Many times, children with autism are drawn to water, as was the displayed in this case,” the police department said in the statement. “Officer Bulmer was in the right place at the right time to save a young life.”
