RALEIGH, N.C. —-(AmmoLand.com)- Outdoor television star Michael Waddell likes to have fun and that’s exactly what he and everyone else are in for at the National Wild Turkey Federation’s North Carolina State Awards Banquet on March 5, in Raleigh, N.C.
Doors open at 6 p.m. at the Kerr Scott Building, located at 1025 Blue Ridge Blvd., on the N.C. State Fairgrounds. The event will feature a raffle for guns, wildlife art, outdoor gear, home décor and more. Waddell will be available for autographs and photos and will be joined by NWTF CEO George Thornton and Chief Conservation Officer James Earl Kennamer Ph.D., as guest speakers.
Funding for NWTF conservation projects and outreach programs in North Carolina would not be possible without the Federation’s dedicated volunteers and successful local fundraising events like the upcoming one in Raleigh.
Banquet tickets cost $40 in advance and include dinner and entry into all door prize drawings.
This year’s N.C. State Awards Banquet will take place during the Wake County Wildlife Club’s Dixie Deer Classic, North Carolina’s premiere outdoor trade show. The Dixie Deer Classic will be held March 5 to 7 and will include the N.C. State Chapter’s Southeastern Call Maker’s Competition as well as the annual Tar Heel Open turkey calling contest on March 6.
As an NWTF National Spokesperson and host of Realtree Roadtrips and Bone Collector television shows, Waddell travels the country proclaiming his love for the outdoors and his support of the NWTF.
“The NWTF’s volunteers are not only dedicated conservationists but they also know how to put on a fun event,” said Waddell. “I tell people around the country about all the great work the Federation does for wildlife and hunters and, anytime I get the chance, I like to stop by and thank everyone. Their hard work helping restore turkey populations and habitat is the reason that myself and so many others can travel almost anywhere in North America to hunt wild turkeys.”
Through dynamic partnerships with state, federal and provincial wildlife agencies, the NWTF and its volunteers have helped restore wild turkey populations across the country, raised and spent more than $306 million, and conserved nearly 14 million acres of habitat for all types of wildlife.
The Federation also works to increase interest in the outdoors by bringing new hunters and conservationists into the fold through special outdoor education events and its outreach programs: Women in the Outdoors, Wheelin’ Sportsmen, JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) and Xtreme JAKES.
