New Berlin, Wis. –-(Ammoland.com)- The old adage, “patience is a virtue,” has never meant so much as John Riggins travels into the wilds of the Missouri Breaks and Powder River Valley in Montana for a ‘do it yourself ‘ mule deer hunt.

Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, is bringing viewers an action packed and flavorful hunt into the rugged Montana backcountry on Riggo on the Range. “Riggo” will not only bring home the “goods” with the deer, but much like his playing days, he will display his versatility as he bird hunts for sharp-tailed grouse. The show would not be complete without “Riggo” showing off his culinary skills in the kitchen with a dish that will make viewers run to the kitchen! The inspiring action begins on Saturday, March 30 at 11:30a.m. ET/PT.

The Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge is vast and scenic in its beauty and is where John Riggins settles in for an exciting mule deer hunt – at least until a serious blizzard drives him elsewhere. Mother Nature wins this battle as Riggo recalibrates and switches locations for Powder River Valley where he not only sharpens his bird hunting skills, but patiently locates and takes a nice 4×5 buck from 250 yards with a rifle. The harvest did not take long before Riggins turns into “Chef Riggins” and gives a play-by-play demonstration of how to make “Venison Riggonoff” (i.e. venison stroganoff).

“There were a lot moving parts in this hunt which personally makes it one of my all-time favorite hunts,” said John Riggins, host of Riggo on the Range. “I saw a lot of mule deer but patience was the overriding factor in bringing home a beautiful mule deer. The venison stroganoff dish is a very good dish that I have been making for years.”
