Celebrates Heritage and Conservation Successes of America’s Sportsmen
Springfield, MO -(Ammoland.com)- Simply buying a hunting or fishing license can do big things for conservation.
Sportsmen and women across the country want to share that message in their communities, including members of the Izaak Walton League of America, which continues its sponsorship of National Hunting and Fishing Day this year. Their support goes a long way toward fostering growth in outdoor sports.
The Izaak Walton League has long supported NHF Day, which takes place each year on the fourth Saturday in September. This year it falls on September 27.
“The Izaak Walton League of America is proud to sponsor National Hunting and Fishing Day,” said Scott Kovarovics, Executive Director of the Izaak Walton League. “Many of the League’s 245 chapters will host NHF Day events to introduce youth and families to hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. These events help Americans understand the essential role hunters and anglers play in supporting and funding conservation and outdoor recreation opportunities nationwide.”
Hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts may not even know they are supporting wildlife conservation when they take to the field or stream. Through licenses, permits, and special taxes on firearms, ammunition and fishing tackle, hunters and anglers generate $100,000 every 30 minutes; totaling more than $1.75 billion per year, for fish, wildlife, and habitat conservation.
No one contributes more to conservation than America’s sportsmen and women. National Hunting and Fishing Day is set aside to celebrate those conservation efforts and involve more people in these outdoor traditions.
This year, country music star, award-winning TV host, and former U.S. soldier Craig Morgan has stepped forward to promote NHF Day as the event’s honorary chairman. Morgan is well-known as an avid outdoorsman and also takes pride in serving others. He has made eleven overseas tours to entertain our troops and received the 2006 USO Merit Award for his tireless support of U.S. soldiers and their families.
The Tennessee native also hosts the award-winning “Craig Morgan’s All Access Outdoors” television show on the Outdoor Channel.
Sponsors for National Hunting and Fishing Day 2014 include the Wonders of Wildlife, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Bass Pro Shops, Realtree, Yamaha, GunBroker.com, Izaak Walton League of America, Ducks Unlimited, Scout, National Wild Turkey Federation, Smith & Wesson, Outdoor Channel, and Limit Out Productions.
