Iowa Ducks Unlimited State Convention scheduled February 13-15
DES MOINES, Iowa – The annual Iowa Ducks Unlimited State Convention will be held February 13-15, 2009, at the downtown Marriott in Des Moines. This three-day event will be filled with a variety of festivities including raffles, games, silent and live auctions, food, refreshments and a strong conservation message.
Friday evening’s theme is “Duck Hunter’s Paradise -Guns & Roses” and will focus on volunteer appreciation, games and raffles. Saturday morning’s session includes a panel of DU volunteers, partners and staff who will discuss fundraising and conservation strategies being delivered throughout the state. Iowa DU volunteers, chapters and conservation partners will be recognized during Saturday’s State Chairman Awards Luncheon.
Saturday night will be capped off with a formal banquet and live auction featuring a diverse line-up of trips, hunts and other DU memorabilia. This year’s donated hunt packages include an Iowa pheasant hunt, two Arkansas duck hunts, North Dakota swan hunt, waterfowl/upland combo hunts hosted by Iowa DU staff, Argentina dove hunt and an Iowa Governor’s non-resident deer tag. The weekend’s festivities conclude with a Sunday morning breakfast buffet.
