SHACKLEFORDS, VA (September 2013) International Training, Inc. ( ITI), a training company of G4S GS, and providers of benchmark security training programs to the U.S. Government, U.S. Military and corporate America, is teaching a One Day Competitive Pistol (1) Course, taught by Team ITI Captain Brandon Wright, at its Virginia Facility on October 25th, 2013.
The Competitive Pistol (1) Course is designed to create a foundation that allows shooters to build on the fundamentals of marksmanship and to become a competitive shooter.
This course breaks down the components of the draw and provides students with gun handling techniques to enhance their draw speed. While speed of the draw is important, being able to hit what you are shooting at is crucial. This course will combine the speed of the draw and the tools to enable students to make accurate shot placements. Also covered in the course are safety considerations, weapon manipulation and essential elements for accurate shot placement. Students who complete the course will have gained the knowledge and understanding to continue improving their marksmanship skills.

- Essential elements for accurate shot placement
- Reloading:
- Speed reloads
- Slide lock reloads
- Reload with retention
- Tactical reloads
- Malfunctions
- Transitions
Training will commence at 8:00 am with classroom instruction and will end at 5:00 pm with range exercises. There will be a one hour lunch break included. Upon completion of the eight hour course, students will receive a letter of completion.
Students are required to bring a pistol or revolver (nothing smaller than a .38 cal) in good working condition, as well as three or more magazines or speed loaders and 500 rounds of pistol ammunition per person. Students should also bring a belt with holster and magazine pouches, a weapon cleaning kit (with oil), eye protection (clear and shaded lens recommended), snacks, a baseball cap, rain or inclement weather gear and sunscreen (non-greasy or water resistant recommended). ITI recommends that students wear comfortable shoes (no toeless), long pants and a long sleeve shirt (weather dependent).
The cost of the course is $150 for U.S. Government employees and $166 for civilians. A minimum of 10 registered students is required to run the course with a maximum of 12 students.

About Brandon Wright
Brandon Wright served four years as a Law Enforcement Officer and four years as a State Trooper in the Virginia State Police. In addition, Wright was a member of the local police department S.W.A.T. Team. Wright has over nine years of experience as a Firearms Instructor, which he puts into practice at G4S ITI as their Senior Firearms Instructor. He is a Distinguished Master in IDPA and an IDPA National Champion. Wright also holds a Grand Master classification in USPSA Production.
