Huntsville Stars Cancels Gun Raffle after Receiving Too Much Negative Attention

Apparently, publicity wasn’t such a good thing for The Huntsville Stars’ “Second Amendment Night” promotion July 3, which was supposed to include food, fun, and firepower with a raffle for three different guns, as it was announced yesterday that the “firepower” will no longer be a part of the “fun.”

The event received widespread national attention and Stars’ general manager Buck Rogers indicated that under pressure of both the Southern League and Minor League Baseball headquarters they decided to call it quits, stating that “it’s in the best interest of baseball.”

Rogers also felt that the raffle was blown out of proportion, liking it to “that telephone game” where everything is exaggerated.
