A homeless man who was found sleeping outside of a Houston business early Wednesday morning was fatally shot by a security guard who said the man refused to leave and was acting in a threatening manner.
The security guard, who has not been publicly identified but works for Allied Barton Security Services, discovered the man outside of the building around 2 o’clock a.m. According to a report from a local ABC affiliate, initially, the security guard just asked the man to leave, but when he became aggressive, the security guard called for backup from the Houston Police Department.
Once officers arrived on the scene, the man allegedly attacked the officers before turning on the security guard, who subsequently opened fire on the man, the Houston Chronicle reported. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.
Although his identity has not been released, authorities confirmed that the man was homeless.
