NonProfit Organization Gets Veterans Outdoors and Raises Funds with Endurance Race
Vancouver, WA -(AmmoLand.com)- Home With Heroes, a nonprofit organization committed to bringing veterans and active duty military together and into the outdoors, to honor and thank them for their service, today announces the opening for registration for their annual endurance race fundraiser, the 5K Run & Gun.
The seven course biathlon race combines Crossfit endurance with trap and target shooting, against the picturesque Klickitat Valley on a private ranch in Centerville, Wash. This year’s event will be held June 4, 2016.
Now in its third year, The Home with Heroes 5K Run & and Gun brings together volunteers, sponsors and most importantly Veterans in a fun and exciting way to raise vital funds for the organization.
“As civilians, we wanted to be able to show some of the folks close to us how much we appreciate their sacrifices, in order to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day,” said Jake Carse, President of Home with Heroes. “It’s a privilege to be able to provide our Veterans with an opportunity to be together in the outdoors, to honor and thank them for their services – and most importantly to let them know we will never forget their sacrifices. But in order to create meaningful outdoor experiences, we work with our community to raise funds that directly impact our Home with Heroes programming.”
Participants of all ages and shooting capacities are invited to attend the 5K Run & and Gun; with the first half of the day playing host to the Competition level Shooters, and the latter half to the novice crowd. The event will also be where the winner of a $20,000 4×4 Dream Build will be announced, with a 4×4 course available for offroad enthusiasts. Veterans and local police officers will serve as Range Safety Officers, offering advice and their time to all those who run through the course. Event fees are $100 per competitor or less when you sign up a team.

About Home with Heroes:
Home with Heroes was founded in 2011 with one goal: to say thank you. Inspired by a friend’s service to country, the organization has quickly expanded into a fully functional non profit volunteer operation. Each year, more than 150 Veterans are provided the opportunity for outdoor adventures, to gather together and hunt, fish, and create community. Home with Heroes also actively seeks volunteers to coordinate and staff events.
