Hogue is set to expand its OverMolded rifle stock selection with the addition of a flat dark earth model to accommodate growing demand for more colors.
Joining Hogue’s vast collection of bolt action and 10-22 rifle stocks, the flat dark earth models are available for the Howa1500/Weatherby Vanguard, Remington 700 BDL, Mauser 98, Ruger 77 MKII, Ruger Mini 14/20 and Ruger 10/22.
Hogue stocks are created by molding a super-strong, rigid fiberglass reinforced skeleton that fits the rifle’s action exactly. The skeleton is then overmolded using a soft, synthetic rubber. By employing this means of production, Hogue has managed to create a stock with a straight comb, palm swells and a “varminter” style forend.
Centerfire rifle models are designed to free float the barrel for better accuracy. Models are available for both standard ad heavy “varmint” barrels. Rounding out the features, Hogue includes quick detach sling studs and recoil pads.
Centerfire bolt action stocks come standard with aluminum pillar bedding for a precise fit while all bolt-action stocks are optionally available with a full length bedding block molded into the stock. This bedding block extends full length into the forend.
Stock designer Pat Hogue said the addition of flat dark earth into the overmolded brand came at the behest of customers.
“For years the Hogue rifle stock has been the number one choice for enthusiasts wanting to dress their rifle with an attractive, performance enhancing after-market stock,” said Hogue in a statement. “With the demand for flat dark earth models increasing, our customers have made it known they want additional choices. So, we listened.”
No word on pricepoint but the new stocks will be available through Hogue’s website or through Hogue dealers.
