Aiken, SC -(Ammoland.com)- A Phil Evans-designed, hand-forged Bowie knife with custom sheath by Andy Humble is the one-of-a-kind “Western Heritage” SHOT Show auction knife combination for 2016.
Phil Evans is a highly respected custom-knife maker and member of the American Bladesmith Society. Phil has created a magnificent 15 ½-inch overall length Bowie Knife to commemorate the 2016 SHOT Show auction’s “Western Heritage” theme. The massive forged 5160 blade is over 10” long and 3/8” thick at the spine and features forged “S” type guard, iron hardware and a premium stag handle.
The spine of the one-of-a-kind knife features the inscription, “Western Heritage 2016- BOWIE01”
The striking companion sheath is custom designed by Andy Humble of Leanin’H Leatherworks. The sheath is hand-tooled, hand-stitched and hand-finished. To complement the Bowie knife design, Humble incorporated beaver tail inlay and antique bronze spots and added horsehide lining throughout the sheath. The sheath incorporates an attached authentic 5-peso Texas Ranger-type badge with the “Western Heritage” logo and the BOWIE 01 serial number.
“When my friend, Roy Huntington, Editor of American Handgunner magazine suggested there might be an opportunity for me to create a one-of-a-kind knife for the 2016 SHOT Show auction I was equal parts honored, excited and intimidated,” explained Phil Evans. “Then, Roy introduced me to the SHOT Show people at the Shooting Industry Masters shooting competition and I knew this was a project I wanted to be part of.”
Following discussions with Huntington and organizers of the auction, it was unanimous that a dramatic handcrafted Bowie with bold “S” handguard with premium stag handle would be the perfect knife.
