Guns stolen in Florida Bass Pro break-in (VIDEO)

Authorities are searching for the individuals responsible for breaking into an Orlando Bass Pro Shop over the weekend and making off with half a dozen firearms.

Video surveillance shows multiple suspects walk behind the gun counter early Sunday morning and access a glass display case. Police say they walked away with six rifles, numerous pairs of binoculars and other merchandise of value.

The break-in was just one of several such recent incidents involving Florida gun shops.

“There is a very large demand for firearms, particularly for the persons who cannot possess them, who can’t purchase them through legal channels,” Mary Harmon Salter, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, told local media.

“We strongly suggest that licensees lock all of their firearms in a safe or a vault,” Salter added.

So far this year, over 500 firearms have been stolen in the Orlando/Tampa area alone, with only a small portion of those recovered.
