Mint Hill, North Carolina’s Bull Moose Guns posted some tips to help gun owners in the path of flood waters and storm damage.
While advocating keeping a personal record detailing your collection to include make, model and serial numbers which can be used to recover lost or stolen guns– or for insurance purposes– Bull Moose also covers a more preventative approach to protecting firearms.
By using a vacuum food saver or zip lock bag, gun owners can seal their firearm away from the environment.
Jotting down contact information on an index card or slipping a business card inside before you seal can help guns found downstream in the worst case scenario find their way home.
“Remember they do make larger sized food saver bags so you can fit rifles and shotguns in them as well,” says the post. “Be sure to leave enough on the ends to seal the bag.”
