Gun control float featured in 4th of July parade (VIDEO)

The great gun debate made its way into an Independence Day parade in Alameda, California, over the weekend.

College student Doni Uyno both designed and created the float using a truck plastered with poster board signs naming locations of mass shootings across the country.

“Our goal today is not to convince people that don’t believe in gun control. Our goal is to convince the people that aren’t using their voices to really stand up for themselves and realize that gun control is doable and shootings are completely preventable,” Uyno explained.

Uyno said her idea for the float was in response to an NRA float that is part of the parade every year. Ironically, the NRA did not participate in the parade this year. The pro-gun group confirmed with local reporters that one of their reps is in the hospital after suffering from a heart attack, so the they decided to sit this year out.
