Guernsey County, OH Man Charged with Illegal Transport of White-Tailed Deer
CAMBRIDGE, OHIO – -(OutdoorWire.com)- A multi-agency investigation led to 15 felony wildlife charges for a Guernsey County man involved in the illegal transport and sale of propagated white-tailed deer according to charges filed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).
Last week (February 26) Danny L. Parrott of Kimbolton was indicted on 15 federal felony counts in the Southern District of Ohio, Eastern Division. Parrott was charged with the transport of 54 deer from Ohio to South Carolina for release at a hunting lodge. The charges involve falsifying documentation and failing to test the animals for disease as required by state and federal law.
The three year investigation dubbed “Operation White-tail Exploitation”, involved law enforcement officials from the USFWS, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI).
Parrott’s charges include two counts of conspiracy, twelve counts of Lacey Act Violation and one count of wire fraud. A hearing will be scheduled following these indictments.
