Go wild on Wednesday at the Salato Wildlife Education Center

Frankfort, Kentucky – -(TheOutdoorWire.com)- Kentucky’s Salato Wildlife Education Center in Frankfort will host the year’s last Wild Wednesday program for kids from 10 a.m. – noon, December 3. This nature-oriented program is great for introducing younger kids to the great outdoors and to native wildlife. Young explorers will get an exciting chance to learn all about our native reptiles during this Wild Wednesday and even get a chance to meet a few of our resident reptiles. The cost is $10 per child for ages 6 and under. Snacks will be provided for the kids. Registration and pre-payment are required.

The Salato Center has a variety of native animals for the public to see, including a bear, bobcats, elk, deer, bison, eagles, snakes and fish. The Center has numerous indoor exhibits and miles of hiking trails open to the public. Fishing is available at two lakes. While some programs may require a registration fee, general admission to the Salato Center is free.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. The Center is closed Sundays, Mondays and state holidays.
