This high quality hunting jacket has been finely crafted out of authentic Harris Tweed, a registered trademark since 1910. This is the only fabric that is produced in commercial quantities by the truly traditional methods of the islanders of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Made of pure virgin wool dyed and spun by hand, Harris Tweed is soft, tactile, breathable, warm, colorful, sustainable and adaptable. It retains its heritage of practically and longevity while extoling all the qualities and virtues of a truly luxurious 21st century fabric.
In addition to being made from Harris Tweed, the hunting jacket is trimmed with top quality Loden and is water repellent. The inner padding is made of virgin sheep’s wool and provides a high degree of comfort through the jacket’s extreme breathability and heat regulation. The varied pocket combinations, including two zippered pockets, two patch pockets with flaps and additional side openings and three inside pockets (two with zippers), provide ample storage space for all necessities while on the hunt.
A two-way zipper allows the jacket to open and close easily, while the overlying concealed button placket protects the zipper. A game pouch with pleat in the back allows for easy carry of small prey. To protect ones extremities during particularly windy hunts, the cuffs are knitted to create a wind guard, providing greater comfort for the individual’s hands. There is also a drawstring cord at the waist to keep body heat in and water, dirt and wind out.
