Three teens are in police custody after they robbed Sheena Greitens, the wife of Missouri governor-elect Eric Greitens, at gunpoint near her home Monday night.
Greitens was leaving a restaurant just after 6 p.m. when the robbery occurred. As she was sitting in her car in the parking lot, she was approached by the suspects, one of whom opened her car door, pointed a gun at her, and demanded valuables.
Greitens handed over her laptop and cellphone. Authorities learned that another vehicle in the same parking lot had also been burglarized.
The suspects – ages 14, 15, and 19 – fled from the scene in a vehicle, but were involved in a car accident and subsequently fled on foot. However, they were soon apprehended. The stolen items were found in the vehicle.
The couple thanked law enforcement for their “swift and skilled” response in a statement released a few hours after the robbery.
Although shaken up over the ordeal, Greitens was unharmed.
