He captured the hearts of Americans when he was thrust into the spotlight after five law enforcement officers were killed in an ambush in Dallas in July, then shocked the nation with the announcement of his retirement soon thereafter, but now former Dallas Police Chief David Brown is taking on another role as a contributor for ABC News.
Brown will begin his new undertaking Jan. 1, 2017, and will focus on economic inequality, gun violence, race relations, policing and social justice.
Brown officially retired on Oct. 4 following 33 years on the force. It was later disclosed that Brown had previously talked of retirement but after the ambush, the idea just sort of went by the wayside for the time being.
