South Carolina-based FN came to SHOT Show last week with several new additions to their 2020 catalog including a 6.5 Creedmoor SCAR.
The caliber addition to FN’s popular and combat-proven rifle line came after the company prototyped the 6.5CM in the FN MK 20 SSR after USSOCOM announced plans in 2018 to explore the cartridge for future use.
Like the 7.62 NATO SCAR 20S, the 6.5CM model uses an extended monolithic receiver and comes standard with a Geissele Super SCAR trigger, SSR precision stock that is adjustable for length of pull and comb height, as well as the Hogue grip.

In more obtainable offerings, there was lots of buzz around FN’s new MRD Compact 509 series, which brings the platform down to size while providing space for increasingly sought-after micro red dot systems while featuring blackout iron sights that co-witness.
With a standard flush-fit 12-round magazine, the Compact MRD accepts all higher capacity FN 509 mags. When it comes to specs, the 3.7-inch barrel translates to a 6.8-inch overall length. Height is 4.8-inches and weight is 25.5-ounces. MSRP is $799.
