A 17-year-old girl is making waves on the internet after sharing a photo of her Black Lives Matter-themed prom dress.
The front of the dress prominently displays a photo of Trayvon Martin, while the lower portion features photos of Sandra Bland, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice and others killed in altercations with law enforcement.
Milan Morris, who has received mostly positive feedback for her fashion choice, said all lives matter, but loss of life is particularly tragic when it’s unnecessary.
“The sole purpose was to convey his message, it was never about me or how I look in it, just the message,” Morris said, while giving all the credit to the designer, Terrence Torrance.
“It was powerful,” Torrance said of the completed project. “It was art. It was surreal. It spoke volumes.”
