A Florida man was shot by one of his accomplices during a botched robbery Sunday.
Tyrus Udell Kornegy, 28, was fleeing through the woods after robbing the Kangaroo store of cigarettes and cash when one of his accomplices accidentally shot him in the back. All three suspects were eventually captured, and Kornegy was hospitalized for life threatening injures, The Florida Times-Union reports.
Kornegy, along with two of his accomplices, robbed Kangaroo on Wildwood Drive and fled in their vehicle. Police quickly caught up and deployed spike strips before ramming the suspects’ vehicle off the road.
The three men abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot, racing through the woods. At one point, one of the suspects accidentally shot Kornegy in the back.
Police capture all three men, and Kornegy was airlifted to UF Jacksonville Health to be treated for his wounds. Deshawn Renord Perkins, 23, complained of chest pains, and was also hospitalized.
Khris Antwanylons Tobler, 26, managed to escape, but was captured a day later.
