Brady Checks for gun purchases still working.
Utah –-(Ammoland.com)- The federal government shutdown did NOT close down the Brady Checks done by the FBI.
Gun sales in Utah go through Utah’s BCI, and interface with the FBI database that way, but there are no delays on clearing people for gun purchases in Utah.
Some Hunting areas closed, some open
WATERFOWL HUNTERS- are locked out of the popular Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge west of Brigham City. This is a prime spot for hunting ducks and other birds because of its walk-in access and utility for young hunters. State run areas are open, but are crowded by hunters looking for other locations to replace the closed federal areas. National Wildlife Refuges at Ouray near Vernal and Fish Springs in Tooele County are also CLOSED.
DEER HUNTERS – According to the Deseret News, “Last week, the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management in Utah stressed that staffing would be at a minimum, but routine activities like hunting and fishing are still permitted on these federally managed lands in the state.”
