A federal agent is recovering from a gunshot wound after a mishap at Orlando International Airport Tuesday.
The agent, who was not publicly identified, was on his way to a security checkpoint with a holstered handgun when a bag slung over his shoulder slipped and caught the gun. As the agent grabbed the gun to keep it from falling to the floor, he inadvertently fired it, striking himself in the foot.
No one else was injured and the agent is expected to be okay.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, authorities confirmed the officer is a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent and, although he was on vacation, was going to be armed while flying.
The incident was said to have not interrupted operations at the airport.
