A man employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly pulling a gun on a woman inside a Boston-area restaurant.
According to Sing La, bartender at the Gourmet Garden Restaurant, two couples came into the establishment within about a half hour of each other and soon started arguing. La said both couples appeared to be intoxicated and one woman began yelling at the other, accusing the woman of following her. Moments later, James Doyle, 55, pulled out a pistol and aimed it at the woman’s head, as someone who witnessed the altercation called the police.
When officers arrived at the restaurant, they found Doyle, who was legally registered to carry a firearm, sitting at the bar, still intoxicated.
No one was injured, but Doyle was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, being a licensee carrying a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct.
Following the incident, Harold Shaw, Special Agent in Charge for the FBI, issued a statement.
The FBI takes allegations of misconduct very seriously. We are aware of the matter involving the recent arrest of an FBI employee and are fully cooperating with the Hingham, MA Police Department and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office. This matter has been referred to the FBI’s Internal Investigations Section in Washington, DC, as well as the Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General. Because this is an ongoing personnel matter, we will not comment further.
