Faxon Firearms offers up a new, lightweight 10.5-inch pencil barrel chambered in the popular 5.56 NATO round, the company announced Monday.
The barrel weighs in at less than 1 pound and focuses on maximum maneuverability and versatility on pistol or short-barreled rifle platforms.
Set-up for standard carbine length gas systems, the barrel uses a .625-inch diameter gas block journal, 1.1-inches in length. Featuring a 1/8 twist, conventionally rifled in-house at Faxon, the new pencil barrel features concentric 1/2 x 28 threads with a relieved shoulder. Manufactured from 4150 certified gun barrel quality steel, the part is finished with a resilient nitride.
“We are thrilled to continue expanding our pencil barrel product line with the 10.5,” Nathanial Schueth, director of sales and product management, said in a press release. “Our pencil barrels are the lightest in the industry and with the 10.5” we have set another benchmark in ultralight performance.”
The 10.5-inch pencil barrel is officially on the market, shipping now to Faxon dealers and OEM customers with a retail price of $159.
