A 41-year-old man is facing the possibility of up to 15 years in federal prison after he was found guilty this week of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The evidence? Facebook pictures of him holding a gun.
Malik First Born Allah Farrad, who is also known as Marvin Maurice Buckles, became the focus of an investigation by the FBI and the Johnson City Police Department in October 2013.
During the investigation, authorities monitored his social media accounts, where they discovered several photographs of Farrad, who had multiple felony convictions and was prohibited from possessing a firearm, with handguns on top of a toilet seat in what appeared to be his bathroom. Authorities also came across photos of Farrad holding a Springfield, Model XD, .45 caliber, semiautomatic pistol, again in his bathroom.
Moral of the story? Be careful what you post on social media, especially if you’re a convicted felon.
