The M982E1 Excalibur 1B by Raytheon is an extended-range, GPS-guided artillery shell full of 155 mm of “mean”. This beauty is as lethal as it is accurate, capable of hitting targets up to 25 miles out with an average miss distance of just under 4 feet.
During the environmental qualification/accuracy test the Excalibur scored 19 for 20. Pretty incredible considering the distance to target. But that kind of firepower doesn’t come cheap. At $53,630 per unit, it’s a good thing it only takes one shot to get the job done.
