An 86-year-old woman who was kidnapped from her Washington home last week and stuffed into the trunk of her own car, made a daring escape when the teen suspects stopped off at a Walmart in Multnomah County, Oregon, some 200 miles away, to buy toiletries.
When the teens went inside the store, Hazel Abel was able to unlatch the trunk from the inside. Once free, Abel also went inside the store where an employee called the police.
Abel was examined by medical personnel before she returned home. The teens, one of whom was Abel’s own great-grandson, were all arrested and will be charged as adults for kidnapping.
