Bethesda, MD – “As a genuine Christmas gift to America’s school children and their parents, Congress and the White House should cooperate immediately to repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990,” gun rights expert John M. Snyder said today.
“This inane law and similar laws prevent law-abiding people from defending themselves and others from murderous criminals,” Snyder said.
“Last week’s horrible multiple murder of small school children and school officials in Connecticut demonstrates this. So do other recent multiple murders in America and in other places, including Oslo, Norway.
“It’s time for hysterically-charged gun grabbing monsters of the media and politics to quit blaming firearms for criminal acts. It’s time instead to enable decent people to thwart criminal activity. It’s time to let decent armed citizens protect innocent children.”
Snyder said that, “Fortunately, there is pending in the United States House of Representatives a bill to gut the anti-defense of school children law. The bill is H.R. 2613, the proposed Citizens Protection Act, introduced last year by Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX). It was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary where it has remained.
“H.R. 2613 would repeal outright the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 and amendments to that act. It’s getting near the end of this Congress, the 112th Congress, but there’s still time for Capitol Hill and the White House to act. There’s time for the mainstream media to get off its anti-gun high horse and work hard for something truly meaningful.”
