FAIRFAX, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- Doug Koenig of Team Smith & Wesson won the 2010 MidwayUSA/NRA Bianchi Cup, over the Memorial Day weekend in Columbia, Missouri. Koenig’s final aggregate totaled 1920-179x in the Open Division to edge out second place finisher Bruce Piatt’s 1918-183x. Kevin Angstadt finished third with a 1918-169x. This win marks Koenig’s 12th Bianchi Cup championship, the first of which occurred in 1990.

Senior Border Patrol Agent Robert Vadasz, the 2008 Metallic Division winner, took the title back from last year’s champion Rob Leatham with a score of 1904-146x.

The Production Division, introduced in 2009, went to Kyle Schmidt who shot a 1856-121x. Enoch Smith placed second with a 1835-123x and Team Glock captain Dave Sevigny took third.

Jessie Abbate of Team Smith & Wesson stepped up to become this year’s Women’s Champion with a score of 1906-163x.

The Open, Metallic and Production Divisions of the MidwayUSA/NRA Bianchi Cup vary in how many modifications competitors are allowed to make to their firearms. The Open Division allows guns or sights to be modified in any fashion while Metallic Division participants may only equip their firearms with metallic sights. The Production Division is the strictest of the three, prohibiting shooters from using pistols that have been altered in any way.

The world-renowned pistol competition draws shooters from across the globe. In 2010, shooters represented Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand and the United States.
