Hamburg, PA -(AmmoLand.com)- Tonight on Sportsman Channel at 7 p.m. EST, Doug Koenig Championship Season begins in the rugged steep San Juan Mountains of south western Colorado for a late season rifle Elk hunt.
With the rut over, the Elk are herding up and moving down to the lowlands to graze. Trekking to an elevation of 10,000 feet, Doug and his guide, Bill Veach of High Sierra Expeditions settle into a ground blind overlooking a ridge. With sunlight fading, temperatures dropping and bugling heard in the distance, it’s a tight shot through the quaking aspen for Doug.
Then, Doug heads out to Grand Island, NE, for Hornady’s Zombies in the Heartland 3-Gun Match. Shooting 10 post-apocalyptic stages with a rifle, pistol or shotgun, Doug gets in on the fun shooting a can cannon soda pop launcher while running the challenging course of fire. Afterwards, Doug’s guided factory tour at Hornady Manufacturing provides an up-close look at some of his favorite loads manufactured by an American family owned business.
