New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- Eagle Imports was founded over 25 years ago by current CEO Michael Sodini’s grandfather, George D. Sodini and his uncle, George T. Sodini, Jr.
It all began in a dusty, low-rent office filled with cardboard boxes, a telex machine and a conference table surrounded by green faux leather chairs.
At this very early stage Michael’s grandfather, a grizzled industry veteran, knew he wanted Eagle to be special. He wasn’t satisfied with the lack of variety at gun shops. Every store carried the same guns at the same prices as the store down the street; it was boring. He wanted Eagle to be different. He wanted to offer both guns and prices his customers wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else.
He envisioned a different type of gun company.
While Michael’s grandfather may have been the visionary, it was George Jr. that made it happen. One of his first actions was to travel to Argentina, not for the exotic scenery and culture, but to import a particular gun into the U.S. market.
At the time, Bersa was the gun industry’s best kept secret. Bersa Argentina made the Bersa Thunder that looked and felt like the Walther PPK, the preferred sidearm of Bond... James Bond, except the Thunder was more reliable, more accurate, had less recoil and was half the price of the PPK.
Half the price for a better gun?
Now, that was something different. Bringing the Bersa line to America was the first of many success stories for the Sodini family-run business. Soon, new and exciting gun lines like Metro Arms and Comanche were welcomed into the Eagle Imports stable.
Fast forward to today and Bersa’s name and excellent guns are far from a secret. The telex machine and faux leather chairs are (thankfully) also long gone and Michael Sodini now proudly continues to carry the family tradition of bringing something different to the table. Eagle Imports most recently added to its lineup of imports something truly special in the pride of Slovakia – Grand Power.
Meet Grand Power, Eagle Imports’ Newest Line: Competition Ready, Right Out of the Box
Designer Jaroslav Kuracina is different, but different in a good way. He first began drafting pistol designs as a teenager and continued improving them while in the military. He believed there was a way to design pistols that were competition ready right out of the box. The only problem was nobody believed his radical ideas would work. But that didn’t stop Kuracina and it would soon turn out he was right.
Today, Kuracina’s Grand Power pistols are used by competitive shooters all over Europe. Kuracina designed Grand Power pistols to use an almost unheard of rotating barrel locking system instead of using the Browning-style tilting barrel that the great majority of other pistols use. In a Grand Power pistol the barrel never tilts up and always stays in-line with the pistol, reducing recoil, muzzle flip and increasing next shot accuracy. Because of Kuracina’s radical design, a Grand Power pistol’s next shot is always on target.
In Grand Power, Eagle Imports brings a new player to the United States shooting scene. And just as they did with Bersa, Grand Power’s radical pistol designs will soon go from being a best kept secret to a dominant force both in and out of the box.
Newly Arrived From Argentina: The Bersa BP380 Concealed Carry
Meet the latest addition to the Bersa family, the BP380 CC. With the BP380 CC, Bersa took a different approach. Instead of building around an uncomfortable subcompact frame like most concealed carry pistols, the BP380 CC was engineered with a full grip that allows for a positive four-finger hold and less felt recoil.
The pistol features a textured grip, a light, crisp and short trigger pull and interchangeable dot-sights. The full-size grip provides a higher carrying capacity than most subcompacts with an 8+1 capacity. That’s nine shots of a whole lot of “don’t even think about it, punk.” While the BP380 CC is more accurate, easier to shoot and offers a larger magazine capacity than other subcompact pistols, it remains as thin and compact as ever at only 0.94 inches wide and 6.35 inches long.
A concealed carry pistol that can stop an attacker dead in his tracks while being thin and small enough to slip in a pocket and still fire nine shots? Now that’s different.
