Washington, DC -(Ammoland.com)- This week, a diverse group of voices representing business, conservation, the faith community and affected cities and towns will speak out about the importance of clean water and the current effort to restore clarity to one of the nation’s bedrock conservation laws, the Clean Water Act.
Later today, a teleconference will feature supporters of clean water from a breadth of constituencies. On Wednesday, congressional members will speak out during a rare joint hearing between key committees of the U.S. House and Senate.
Phone-in news conference to preview a joint hearing between the Senate Environment and Public Works and the House Transportation and Infrastructure committees on a pending rule to restore Clean Water Act protections to 60 percent of streams and millions of acres of wetlands across the country.
Two million miles of streams – which help feed the drinking water sources for one in three Americans – are without guaranteed protection from pollution under the nation’s Clean Water Act. In March, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of Engineers proposed a rule to restore protections to the “Waters of the U.S.”
Confirmed speakers for Tuesday’s telephone conference represent a diverse cross-section of Americans who are concerned about clean water and who support fixing the loopholes in the Clean Water Act.
