Swiss photographer Ueli Alder created hyper-realistic explosions in a very unique way.
In his project, “Detonations”, Alder took photos from around the web and superimposed a combination of photos from real-life weapons tests and screenshots captured from video games like Call of Duty, New Yorker reports.
The result is convincingly real depictions of detonations, or as Alder calls them, “explosion icons.”
“I have been fascinated by how realistic war scenarios have grown in video games,” he said. “I wanted to ask questions about how these images of war are breathtaking, and speculate as to just how breathtaking these images will have to become in the future in order for us to pay attention to them.”
