Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- When Democrat Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis admitted to faking her pro-gun positions in an effort to defeat Republican Greg Abbott she put herself in line with a growing number of Democrats who’ve claimed to be pro-gun in order to win elections, then waged war against the Second Amendment once in office.
For example, consider President Obama, who actually campaigned as a supporter of the Second Amendment to win his first presidential election.
According to Real Clear Politics, he said the following in 2008: “I believe in the Second Amendment. I believe in people’s lawful right to bear arms. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won’t take your handgun away.” Fast forward to 2013 and Obama’s presidency was characterized by various gun pushes that included complete bans on certain types of rifles.
Fox 59 reported that Obama stood among Sandy Hook families at that time and described gun control as part of “our first task as a society.”
Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) actually packaged himself as pro-gun during election cycles too. His pro-gun claims were so rich that he even enjoyed high ratings from the NRA for a time. But in 2013 it became painfully clear he too had said whatever he had to say in order to get endorsed/elected and was actually at war with the Second Amendment.
In February 2013 The Wire reported that Reid scrubbed mention of his NRA “B-rating” from his website and went full bore gun control. Breitbart News previously reported that the NRA responded to Reid’s war on the Second Amendment by saying there is “absolutely no scenario” where they will endorse him in 2016.
Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) used the same tactic. Bretibart News previously reported that he ran as “pro-gun” in 2010 then actually spearheaded the gun control push that began in late 2012 and crumbled to the ground in April 2013. Prior to 2012, photos of Manchin shooting an AR-15 with a 30-round magazine were easy to come by–the photos helped sell the pro-gun persona. Post 2012, Manchin has talked about gun control repeatedly after high profile public attacks involving a firearm.
Finally, Gabby Giffords provides one of the most blatant and hypocritical examples of a Democrat running on guns but literally dedicating her life to a war on the Second Amendment. Amid Giffords’ 2013 gun control push–and her husband Mark Kelly’s campaign against “assault weapons”–Bretibart News found and published an October 2010 photo of Giffords holding an AR-15 with a 30-round magazine at a Tucson gun range. She had shot the gun and had photos taken so she could use them to tout her pro-gun stance in her upcoming election. In reality, she and her husband are at war with the Second Amendment.
So this is how the Democrats roll. They say whatever it takes to get in office–they even pose for pictures with guns–then use their elected position to limit or abolish gun rights.
