Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- Fox News is reporting that DC Police are serving a search warrant in for the home of David Kokesh–a supposedly pro-gun rights activists who held a pump shotgun in Freedom Plaza and appeared to load it.
NBC News host David Gregory has yet to be charged or have his home searched after he held up a “high capacity” magazine on the set of “Meet the Press” on December 23rd. The magazine he held is illegal to “possess, sell, or transfer” in the District of Columbia.
The District of Columbia Attorney General did not prosecute Gregory and said in a letter to NBC’s attorney Lee Levine, that the his office “determined to exercise its prosecutorial discretion to decline to bring criminal charges against Mr. Gregory, who has no criminal record, or any other NBC employee based on the events associated.”
Police believe Kokesh’s actions broke a law, and they are searching his home. The DC Police Chief said: “You can transport [a gun] through the District of Columbia… but there are rules for that transport. What [Kokesh] did… if in fact that was a real firearm [with] real ammunition, would be a violation of the law.”
Since the District of Columbia v. Heller decision struck down DC’s gun ban in 2008, gun owners have been legally able to keep guns in their homes and in their places of business. And it is legal to transport firearms as long as they are being transported in accordance with local, state, and federal law.
