Dashcam footage released of cop who fatally shot service dog (VIDEO)

Video has been released of an Idaho police officer fatally shooting a service dog while responding to a call Saturday.

Filer Police Officer Tarek Hassani responded to Rick Clubb’s residence on report of dogs on the loose when he encountered what he said was a pair of “aggressive” dogs. While making his way to Clubb’s front door, the officer fatally shot a 7-year-old black labrador named Hooch, Magic Valley reports.

Filer Police Chief Tim Reeves said Hassani was justified in his actions and had no choice but to shoot the dog after it repeatedly adopted an aggressive posture.

“He had to kick one to keep him away,” Reeves said.

Clubb said he suffers from Parkinson’s disease and that Hooch was a trained service animal. He feels Hassani should not have shot his dog, especially since his 9-year-old son’s window was nearby.

“He didn’t’ have to pull out his .45 and shoot my dog,” Clubb said. “It was right outside my son’s bedroom. What if it had ricocheted through the window?”

Clubb was cited for allowing animals to run at large.
