New York gun maker Dark Storm Industries dropped the Hailstorm DS 9mm pistol and SBR, designed to give Glock and AR-15 fans a whole new shooting platform to enjoy.
The billet’s 7075 aluminum lower is constructed specifically for Glock 17, 19 and 26 style 9mm magazines. The firearms’ upper receiver boasts last round bolt-hold open as well as a flared mag well and compatibility with other aftermarket AR accessories.
Built with a single-stage trigger, the platform offers a clean, crisp trigger pull with lower felt recoil. The company designed the 9mm bolt carrier group, billet ambidextrous safety selector, ultralight narrow profile M-LOK 9-inch barrel shroud and conical muzzle blast deflector to generate performance on the lightweight platform.
The 7.5-inch 9mm threaded nitrite barreled Hailstorms come with a 17-round magazine and are equipped with a Hogue Pistol Grip. The DS-9 Hailstorm pistol offers a CAA stock saddle cheek riser and a Thorsen Customs enhanced buffer tube cover outfitted with QD sling sockets while the DS-9 short barreled rifle boasts a Magpul CTR stock. Both are priced at $1,095.
“The addition of a 9mm version DS Hailstorm pistol and SBR to our line gives customers that prefer the 9mm, whether it is for self-defense or because they are serious Glock fans, two reliable and accurate platforms that are easy to use and maintain, with low recoil and an amazing appetite when it comes to the variety of 9mm ammo that these guns handle,” Ed Newman, president of DSI, said in a statement.
DSI also offers the DS-9 models in compliant configurations for restrictive states such as California and New York.
